They brought a dryer this morning. Not the dryer. The one they brought was a slightly lower-end model of the same brand, with fewer features.

Alpha Geek phoned the home improvement store to discuss the difference. Turns out the label for a lower-end model had been attached to the dryer we had selected, so the salesperson who entered the information put in the data from the incorrect label. They took back the wrong dryer, and will be bringing us the right one later today. They won’t be charging us the higher price for it, since it was mislabeled and we paid for it in good faith and all.

In other news, our history class is having its first test tomorrow. It will be all essay. I don’t feel at all confident about this test—history is not a strong subject for me.

I’ve been setting money aside each month for some repairs that need to be done around the house.

Apparently someone let the secret out, because over the weekend our dryer cacked it.

We took it apart this afternoon to see if it was maybe something relatively inexpensive to fix, like a belt. But no, the bearings have completely seized up.

Granted, the thing is over fifteen years old. I just wish it could have waited until after we got our tax refund.

Saw a bug in the bathroom earlier.

I went back to the living room, where Duchess was relaxing on the couch, and coaxed her to follow me back to the bathroom. As soon as she spotted the bug, she knew what was expected of her. I left her to it and returned to the living room.

About ten minutes later, Duchess came back, and dropped her conquest in the middle of the floor. I petted her and praised her and fussed over her, and now she has no doubt she is The Mighty Hunter, Slayer of Bugs. You should have seen her strutting around, leaping on the bug with great drama and generally showing off. Now she’s back in the bathroom, looking for more bugs.

If only I could teach her to put their little corpses in the trash.
