As many of our friends and family may recall, my eldest son tried out for the local Special Olympics swim team last year. The team organizer said if she’d had one more spot available, she would have taken him. The kid takes to swimming naturally; I think he’s part seal. Perhaps he has some selkie blood back up the Welsh branch of the family tree.
This year there weren’t any spots at all. But there were private lessons run by the people coaching the team, so I signed him up for those. He’s been showing a lot of improvement in his swimming technique.
And last week the instructor gave me a flyer that said some spots have opened up on the swim team, and tryouts are next Wednesday. Wish the kid luck!
