The Artist polished off the last of the lasagna this morning. I figured he and I could nuke the frozen corn dogs for dinner, and I could make The Director a grilled cheese sandwich.

Evidently the mailman came while I was in the basement, and nobody told me. Wandering past the kitchen table with my corn dog, I glanced over and saw a box where no box had been before. From Arizona. Woot!

For you see, my droogies, last week Scarybaldguy was offering a limited production of his Epic Sketty Sauce for sale, and I jumped all over it. I love sketty. I have two teenage boys in the house, and they would happily eat sketty every night. And here it was, our sketty sauce!

I chucked the corn dog and boiled us up some sketty. I boiled a lot of sketty.

Oh. My. God. If you like sketty, you must try this sauce.

Sketty’s all gone now, as is most of the first jar. We’re all lounging around in the living room with our pants unbuttoned, feeling eminently satisfied with life. I’m trying to figure out how to convince SBG to move to NC, where I can keep him in a nice apartment and he can provide me with sketty sauce and beef stoo.

I got two jars so I could share it with our friends and family, but now I’m not sure they’re getting any.

The worst of the cold seemed to have passed by Sunday, but my sinuses have still been clogged. I relied on Nyquil to get to sleep, because otherwise I couldn’t breathe when I lay down. I constantly felt like I was on the verge of suffocation.

Today Alpha Geek had to take an online class to get certified in some software or system or something, so I went out to Pei Wei and brought him back some lunch. For myself I got some of their nice, spicy pad thai.

Boy, that cleared things right up. For the first few minutes I had to keep stopping to blow my nose. The amount of snot that came out of my head was epic. For the first time in almost a week, I can breathe comfortably. I don’t have to gasp open-mouthed for air like a fish in a dirty aquarium.

They should bottle this stuff and put it in the cold remedies aisle.

Yesterday I went out to the store to get some milk and ground beef and a few other things. The store was nearly empty of customers, which I thought was strange with the big snowfall predicted.

Back at home, I started checking that I had all the ingredients to make lasagna. I got lasagna noodles a week ago, told the Artist I would be making lasagna (his favorite)… and then I got sick. For most of a week, I was barely up to heating soup on the stove. Lasagna? Forget it.

So now that I was more-or-less recovered, I intended to make the promised lasagna. Except I forgot to get mozzarella cheese. Dammit. I asked Alpha Geek to run up to the store and get me some.

Nearly two hours later, he returned. Apparently the ravening hordes descended on the grocery stores just after I left. He had to go to three different stores to find mozzarella.

But it’s a good thing I went yesterday, because overnight we got snow. And sleet. And ice. Strangely, the worst of it hit south of us. The Atlanta airport is closed because of all the snow. I was trying to remember if my buddy Val is traveling this week. Hope you’re not stranded somewhere, dude.

Schools went from a two-hour delay to closed for the day. Even the colleges are all closed. I guess I get another day to recover from the cold.
