The Phone Spammers Have Found Me

Today I got no less than four calls from spammers. I only answered the one from a local area code, foolishly thinking it might be something real.

I can’t tell if the calls are coming to my cell number or my Google Voice one. Doesn’t really matter, enough is enough. I downloaded an app to deal with it, and set it to block any “unknown” (i.e. blocked caller ID) numbers that aren’t already in my contact list.

Also, thanks to Ace Lightning for recommending the Pajama Jeans–I got myself a pair a few weeks ago, boy are they comfy. Didn’t even have to get them hemmed. As soon as the indigo ones are back in stock I’m going to get a pair of those, too.

Ready for my New Body Now

Last Tuesday I woke up and could barely walk.

Unfortunately my chiropractor is closed on Tuesdays, because he’s a human being and has to take days off to rest from his very physical job. But they were able to squeeze me in on Wednesday.

Seems I’ve aggravated that hip injury I had a few years ago. Apparently it’s fairly common for people to injure themselves in their sleep; the doc said that your muscles are all completely relaxed, so if you sleep in a position that stresses a joint, the muscles don’t protect you from injury as they would when you’re awake. Doctors call it a “slow sprain.” I must have slept like a pretzel Monday night.

Anyway, I went to the chiropractor last Wednesday and he was able to straighten me out a bit. Unfortunately with a sprain like this he can’t really fix it, it just has to take time to heal. But he can alleviate the pain and keep it from getting worse. After I saw the chiro I could almost walk upright.

So I’ve been hobbling around like a crippled thing again. Every day it’s a little better, but I’m pretty much ready to trade this body in for a new one without all these issues. It’s 2016, why can’t we do that yet?

Yesterday my cell phone rang. Unknown number in Louisiana. I don’t know anyone in Louisiana, so I let it go to voicemail.

A few moments later, Google sent me a transcript of the voicemail:

Julia final notice from IRS internal revenue services the reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number 318-403-1862 I’ll repeat 318-403-1862. Thank you.

Oh. Noes. I am, so scared now. Because the IRS will totally phone me if it wants money.*

*FYI: The IRS will always send you a physical letter via snail mail as first contact. The IRS is a stickler for documentation; not only will it send you a paper letter, it will send you two copies of the letter—one to fill out and return to them, and one to keep for your own records.
